- Paid Daniel Patrick Boyd $500 in April 2008 to help fund an overseas jihad, according to a federal indictment
- Traveled to Kosovo in July 2008 to engage in "violent jihad," according to a federal indictment. He returned to North Carolina in April 2009.
- Trained in military tactics in Caswell County in summer of 2009, according to a federal indictment
- Planned an attack on the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va., with Daniel Boyd in June and July 2009, according to a federal indictment
