Capitol Broadcasting Company's Opinion Section seeks a broad range of comments and letters to the editor. Our comments, as they appear with each opinion item, offers the opportunity to engage in a dialogue about the article. In addition, we invite you to write a letter to the editor about any opinions you may read here.

  • Letters should be in response to a particular opinion article or issue. We do not publish mass submission or open letters.

  • Letters should be about 200 to 250 words (President Lincoln’s 1863 Gettysburg Address was 272 words), and note the specific article or issue being referenced.

  • All letters MUST include the writer’s name, address and telephone number. Contact information is for verification purposes only.

  • Writers of letters designated to be published will be contacted within a week.

  • All letters may be edited for civility, clarity, accuracy and style. All letters selected for publication will be sent to the writers after editing and prior to publication.
  • NOTE: If you are using spam blocking software like EarthLink's spamBlocker, be sure to add all addresses at wral.com to your allowed sender list before you fill out this form. Our staff does not have the resources to fill out spam blocker forms to ensure the delivery of your message. If we try to send you a message and a spam filter bounces it back, you may not receive a reply.
