HOW TO ENTER & WIN: No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. All federal, state and local regulations apply. Participants enter online by uploading a pet photo using our online submission form. A valid e-mail address is required for winner notification.

E-MAILED ENTRIES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO WIN.

WRAL.com awards a weekly prize to the visitor who submits a pet photo that garners the highest average rating on a 1 to 5 "paws" scale, with 1 paw being the lowest rating and 5 being the highest rating, and which has been rated by at least 100 visitors. This means the winning photo is not necessarily the one with the most votes.

In the event of a ratings tie, the winner will be the pet photo that receives the highest average "paws" rating and which has been rated the most number of times in excess of 100 during each weekly contest period.

Only one rating per pet photo will be counted per unique visitor, but a visitor can rate an unlimited number of photos.

Voting will run from Monday at 10 a.m. EDT to the following Monday at 9 a.m. EDT. Photos submitted early in the weekly contest period stand a better chance of winning because they have an opportunity to be voted upon by more unique visitors to the site.

Weekly winners will be featured on the Pets section front and entered into a Pet of the Year competition, which will be decided in a similar manner. The Pet of the Year will be eligible for a grand prize.

All results posted are unofficial until winners are verified by WRAL.com and respond to e-mail notification.

IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS: In order for the photo slideshow to maintain its visual appeal, the minimum resolution of each image is 400w x 300h at 72 DPI (optimum resolution, 800w x 600h or greater at 72 DPI); no upload should be over 1 MB.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: Your pet must be clearly visible and in focus. We encourage all visitors to submit photos of their pet each week. Please do not submit the same photo over the course of multiple weeks. In the case that a visitor submits multiple photos of the same pet, only one will be chosen at the editor’s discretion. If you would like to submit a new photo of your pet, in a different setting another week, that is acceptable.

The WRAL.com Website may now or in the future permit the submission of videos or other communications submitted by you and other users ("User Submissions") and the hosting, sharing, and/or publishing of such User Submissions. You understand that whether or not such User Submissions are published, WRAL.com does not guarantee any confidentiality with respect to any submissions. We assume no responsibility or liability for the deletion, corruption, or loss of any content submitted by a WRAL.com member, or for WRAL.com's failure to receive or store submitted content for any reason, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software.

You will be solely responsible for your own User Submissions of whatever nature that you post on, transmit via or link to from the WRAL.com site and are responsible for the consequences of posting or publishing them. In connection with User Submissions, you affirm, represent, and/or warrant that: (i) you are the owner of the content, or otherwise have the right to post such content to our site; (ii) the content is accurate, (iii) the content will not violate the rights of or cause injury to any person or entity, (iv) you own or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to authorize WRAL.com to use the User Submissions in the manner contemplated by this site and these Terms of Service; and (v) you have the written consent, release, and/or permission of each and every identifiable individual person in the User Submission to use the name or likeness of each and every such identifiable individual person to enable inclusion and use of the User Submissions in the manner contemplated by this site and these Terms of Service.

For clarity, you retain all of your ownership rights in your User Submissions. However, by submitting the User Submissions to WRAL.com, you hereby grant WRAL.com a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the User Submissions in connection with the WRAL.com Website and WRAL.com's (and its successor's) business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the WRAL.com Website (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels. You also hereby grant each user of the WRAL.com Website a non-exclusive license to access your User Submissions through the Website, and to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform such User Submissions as permitted through the functionality of the Website and under these Terms of Service. The foregoing license granted by you terminates once you remove or delete a User Submission from the WRAL.com Website.

In connection with User Submissions, you further agree that you will not: (i) submit material that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the material and to grant WRAL.com all of the license rights granted herein; (ii) publish falsehoods or misrepresentations that could damage WRAL.com or any third party; (iii) submit material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, libelous, threatening, pornographic, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, violate any law, or is otherwise inappropriate; (iv) post advertisements or solicitations of business: (v) impersonate another person.

PRIZE VALUE & ODDS: The weekly prize is a $10 gift certificate from Petsmart.

PRIZE REDEMPTION/CLAIM/RELEASES: Winners will be notified by e-mail. If a winner is unreachable after ten (10) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, or if an eligible winner cannot be found for that prize, that prize will not be awarded and an alternate winner will not be selected. No substitution of the prize or transfer of the prize to a third party is permitted and prize cannot be redeemed for cash value. All costs, fees, and expenses, not specifically included in the grand prize descriptions are solely the responsibility of the respective prize winner. Grand prize winner must complete a signed affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release. Grand prize may be considered income and taxes on said prizes are solely the responsibility of the winner. Compliance with all regulations is solely the responsibility of the winner. The winner, by acceptance of a prize, agrees to release CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., its sponsors, advertising and promotion agencies from any and all liability for claims, actions or proceedings for injuries or damages sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while traveling to, preparing for or participating in any prize-related activity. By playing the contest, or by winning, participants have awarded CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. the right to publicize their name, photograph or likeness, voice and details and have accepted and agreed to comply with and be bound by these rules. Grand prize and all other prizes will be forfeited if not claimed by 12/31/07. CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.

ELIGIBILITY: Anyone can participate, but to be eligible to win the grand prize, you must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry and a legal, permanent resident of the U.S. To be eligible to win a weekly prize, you must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry and a legal, permanent resident of one of these North Carolina counties: Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, Wilson or Mecklenburg, Virginia. Limit one winner per household. Limit one winner per family. Members of the same family or household of winners who have won a prize valued over $250 in any WRAL.com sponsored contest during 2006 or 2007 are ineligible to win the grand prize. Employees of CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., their parent companies, agencies, subsidiaries, representatives, sponsors, affiliates, distributors, suppliers, and advertising, promotional agencies and their immediate families are not eligible to participate. CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. reserves the right to disqualify in their sole discretion any entrant or entry if the contest rules are not followed. No substitution of prizes or transfer of prizes to a third party is permitted. No groups, clubs, or organizations may participate in this contest, or reproduce or distribute any portion of these rules to its members.

LIABILITY: CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. is not responsible for problems associated with television transmission, radio transmission, cable transmission, satellite transmission, phone lines, Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, or other Internet interruptions or malfunctions or for any technical difficulties which may prohibit, prevent, or interfere with the transmission of television or radio signals to all or limited geographic areas during the playing of the Contest, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God that are beyond the control of CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. is not responsible for cancellations, postponements, delays, Acts of God, war, terrorism, government regulation, disaster, fire, strikes, civil disorder, or other similar causes beyond the control of the aforementioned entities that make it inadvisable, illegal, impossible, or impractical to continue the contest or to perform under these rules. CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. is not responsible for cancellations, postponements, or delays. If a game is canceled, forfeited, or indefinitely suspended for any reason, or, if a game results in a tie, that game shall not count for any contestant and scores will be computed as if the game did not exist. CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. DISCLAIMS ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, WARRANTY OF FITNESS, AND ANY OTHER IMPLIED WARRANTY.

All decisions are made by the management of the CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. and are final. CBC New Media Group, LLC/Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. reserve the right to revise the rules as necessary for the fair administration of the contest and compliance with applicable law.

This contest is not intended for gambling or betting of any kind. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling or betting purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
